Keeping Your PeopleSoft Investment: Run your PeopleSoft Applications in the Cloud

Those of you who attended Oracle OpenWorld last week, the company’s largest annual gathering, likely walked away with the same message that me and my team did: 2016 is the year of the cloud.

And because Oracle’s leadership showcased everything cloud — Oracle HCM Cloud, ERP Cloud, Marketing Cloud — its commitment to PeopleSoft HCM might have gotten lost in the message.

While I heard from customers who stopped by our booth at Moscone South that they are “not ready, or willing, to move to the Oracle HCM Cloud. Rather, we want to upgrade to PeopleSoft 9.2 and implement the new features while keeping all of the investments we’ve put in to date,” rest assured that we have options for you.

A Leading Solution, Multiple Options

PeopleSoft is still the leading HCM solution in the industry today with over 6,000 customers worldwide. Oracle is still dedicated to PeopleSoft innovation and focused on delivering these innovative features more rapidly and efficiently with the new PeopleSoft Selective Adoption model and using the PeopleSoft Update Manager. In fact, PeopleTools is also going to be brought into the Selective Adoption model which allows for a greater reduction in on-going maintenance costs and no more needs for major upgrades. Finally, Oracle has committed to continuous innovation through 2027 for PeopleSoft.

So, let me eliminate some of the confusion and myths around PeopleSoft HCM vs. Oracle HCM Cloud or ERP Cloud. With all of the investments customers have made with their PeopleSoft HCM modules and all of the new robust features and tools that allow you to have a rapid return on a PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade, there is no rush to move from PeopleSoft to the Oracle HCM Cloud.

However, for those customers who want to take a step toward the cloud, they can keep their existing PeopleSoft systems and run their PeopleSoft HCM modules in the Cloud. This is what is referred to as the PeopleSoft Cloud Solution.

Velocity provides the platform and infrastructure for organizations to run their PeopleSoft HCM modules in a dedicated, internal private cloud, with a cost effective model. This enables IT to reduce day-to-day technology administration, and focus on providing strategic value to the business.

A recent Cloud Computing Survey, by IDG Enterprise Research, found email, collaboration, CRM, data storage and human resources as the top five most popular applications to move to the cloud.  In addition, 42% of IT decision makers plan to increase spending on cloud computing.

If you are looking to take advantage of Cloud Computing, consider moving your PeopleSoft HCM modules into the Cloud so that you can reap the benefits of reduced costs, scalability, and agility at a predictable monthly cost.  When your company is ready to start adding Cloud applications such as Talent Cloud to their portfolio, your PeopleSoft HCM modules will already be in the Cloud and can easily shift into the Hybrid Cloud model.
