Epic Systems has once again proved its power in the EHR vendor field, taking home eight Best in KLAS 2020 awards.
Their sweeping victory was highlighted by Top Overall Software Suite for the tenth straight year and Top Overall Physician Practice Vendor. Epic’s victory also proves that they aren’t slowing down anytime soon: Epic’s reign over the Best in KLAS 2020 awards continues where they left off in 2019, when they took home nine Best in KLAS awards.
In the Overall Software rankings, Epic defeated MEDITECH, Allscripts, and Cerner with a significant lead: Epic received its highest grade by respondents in loyalty, followed by culture and relationships, while MEDITECH was the only other vendor in the running to receive a “B-” or higher from the respondents.
Epic also made its mark as the clear favorite in Overall Physician Practice vendor rankings, out-performing athenahealth and NextGen Healthcare. Respondents noted Epic’s loyalty, relationships, and product as a key distinguisher over its competitors.
In addition to these top awards, the EHR vendor-giant took home recognitions for best Large Hospital Acute Care EHR, Ambulatory EHR (over 75 physicians), Ambulatory EHR (11 to 75 physicians), Practice Management (over 75 physicians), and Patient Accounting and Patient Management for large hospitals.
“Providers and payers demand better performance, usability, and interoperability from their vendor partners every year,” said President of KLAS, Adam Gale, in a press release. “Best in KLAS winners set the standard of excellence in their market segment. Earning a Best in KLAS award should both excite and humble the recipients. It serves as a signal to providers that they can expect the best from the winning vendors.”
Determined by healthcare professionals and clinicians from more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics, the Best in KLAS designation is awarded to solutions and services that provide the highest operational and clinical impact on healthcare providers.
The Overall Software Suite ranking is for vendors that provide a suite of products and solutions that clients would purchase to address their core IT needs, such as clinical and financial systems. The rankings consider the following six components: culture, loyalty, operations, product, relationship, and value.
Here is the list of KLAS overall software suite rankings, based on a 100-point scale:

- Meditech C/S: 77.1
- Allscripts Paragon: 71.5
